Manuscripta Orientalia Electronic Book Series

Dear colleagues,

This book series was initiated by letters from our readers. Several years ago, I was fortunate to receive a series of messages from young colleagues, mostly from Europe and the Middle East. Each contained a request to send her or him an article of mine published many years ago. Findings contained in them, were, in one form or another, summarized in my books. However, the requests kept coming, and finally I promised to present the articles on the web. Posting texts in such a way, I merely intended to simplify matters. Thus the first three books in the series appeared. Positive feedback led to a clear understanding that today such publications will contribute to the expansion of the readership of our journal, and can become an effective tool for scientific discussions, allowing us to celebrate together the remarkable dates in our joint fields and to grieve over the inevitable losses… I would like to thank our readers for their continued benevolent attention and look forward to continuing our cooperation.
