Abstract. The presented paper is devoted to the composition of the famous Muslim theologian mulls ‘Ali b. Sultan

Muhammad al-Harawi al-Qari contained in the convolute Ms.O.267 of the Oriental Department of the St. Petersburg State University Research Library, which describes his approaches and ideas regarding traditions of listening music and singing (sama‘ and ghina). Nowadays his ideas have significant meaning for understanding the approaches to the phenomenon of arts from the side of fundamentalist movement's representatives.
